I have always enjoyed and been drawn to poetry. I still have the red Childcraft POEMS OF EARLY CHILDHOOD that my mother read to me. I loved those poems and go back and read some of them from time to time, though the book is a bit tattered and torn. In a drawing, I won a wonderful poetry book that I love, THE 20TH CENTURY CHILDREN’S POETRY TREASURY, with poems selected by the awesome Jack Prelutsky. Whenever I need inspiration, I open that and immerse myself in some really good poetry.
I also have a personal poetry business called Rhymes for Special Times. I have written over 200 poems for occasions such as Valentine’s, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Retirement, Anniversary, and Birthday. It’s a real joy to present someone a poem written just for them. Here are a few of my poetic verses, along with a video where I read one of my favorites. Enjoy! |
When I sent this poem in to Ladybug Magazine, I saw it as a little boy dressing up. The artist made him a rabbit. Much better!
